Knitted kitty II

large knitted kitty with dakota I actually knitted this kitty back in February when I helped my boyfriend move his stuff from Southampton, UK to Munich, Germany. We drove from Southampton to Brussels and then to Munich. I had even sewed most of it up and stuffed it back in February, but then other things happened - family things and moving mostly. I made it for my friends that live in Brussels and since I was going to be visiting them over the Easter weekend, I needed to finish it. So that I did. I didn’t put a face on it as I’m just not very good at that part and my friend is much better.

This kitty is large. The intention was to be a life-size-ish version, but the proportions were off despite following the pattern just as before. Oh well. It’s got it’s own sort of character, right? The main thing I would change is the needle size I used. I used the recommended size on the yarn band and I think I could’ve gone down one or two sizes to make the fabric more cohesive as it is so stretchy that when stuffed, you can see the stuffing which isn’t very cute.

The details:
Yarn: Sirdar DenimUltra in shades 0636 (Walnut) and 0508 (Ivory cream)
Needles: US15 (10mm)
Tension / gauge: (in stockinette) 9 sts x 12 rows

First completed knitted object

Knitted kitty - greyJust for the sake of saying, I am doing some backdated entries of things I’ve completed or things I started, but haven’t completed. I just want a chronological history of my progress and projects.

Now that I’ve got that out of the way, here’s my first complete knitted object - a small toy cat.

I got the pattern from a LiveJournal community. It’s a bit wonky and I had difficulty sewing the pieces together (not individually, but to make the cat whole). The head really isn’t on very well, but I got a bit rushed and bored in trying to put it together so I didn’t quite care.
