Seriously, where’d my week go?

orbs This week has moved by rather quickly, yet also very slowly. I don’t understand how that works, but tomorrow is Friday and I feel like I’ve done nothing this week, yet on Tuesday I felt pretty certain it was Friday.

Still with me?

Monday was a bust. I had to go to a meeting south of here and it generally takes 1.5 hours on the train to get there give or take (more likely give) 15 minutes. Well I got to the train station with 5 minutes to spare (even already had my tickets) only to find out that my train was 20 minutes late. This of course had a knock-on effect meaning I missed my connecting train by a few minutes which also meant that the next available train to my destination was the one that stops everywhere. I got to my meeting about 30 minutes late (not bad considering the slow train) to find out that the person chairing the meeting was determined to have it finish by noon… it was 11am when I arrived. Oh well, I was there in time to talk to my agenda items… except that I didn’t get to, and neither did the other “guests” since the meeting was being kept short.

Upon leaving at 1230, I managed to get the fast train back up to where I need to change, had a few minutes to dash to another platform in order to catch a fast train back to Oxford. Hurrah! After the morning’s hiccups, things were looking up. Except, of course, they weren’t. I boarded a train, sat there a few minutes, and then the train manager said “You might as well get off this train as we aren’t going anywhere for quite awhile… the 1240 hasn’t left yet”. I’d like to note that it was 1340… I dash across to the 1240. We sat there another 20 minutes. Hurrah. Notice the lack of excitement? That’s because what is normally a 20-30 minute journey took THREE HOURS. My day was shot.

I got to repeat the same journey on Tuesday, minus the train excitement. I got off easy though. A colleague who was also late in the morning and had to go to another meeting in the afternoon never made it because his train just keep going and going and going and he didn’t get home until 9pm.

Anyway. Also had a work Christmas thing. Not much to say there.

wristlet Did finish my first pair of wristlets — the blue-ish ones. Since living in England is almost like living in the Arctic circle when it comes to light, you’ll have to wait until the weekend for pictures of both the cream ones and blue ones. Well actually, the blue-ish ones looks exactly like the one to the right, but now there’re two. Ha ha.

The pub crawl last weekend… well we won’t talk about that too much except to say Thank God I decided to buy some thick tights purely for warmth reasons (it was meant to be -1*C). Instead the tights served both to keep me warm and to stop me from getting done for indecent exposure. These “costumes” were not made for girls over 5′4″ and that’s still probably being generous. I’m 5′8″ and I had to be careful how I moved; I definitely could not bend over even slightly. My friend is 5′10″ so she was slightly worse off. It was good fun really.

Right, need to get moving on the knitting. I started casting on for wristlets the third when the future owner turned up to drive me to our work party. She even enquired about them haha. Shhhh.

Oh! Via Erqsome, Free Rice! A dorky vocabulary game that donates rice for every answer you get. I have terrible vocabulary yet managed to get to 640g before I failed.

The pic at the top is the London Eye taken almost 6 years ago exactly with a film camera. I’d only just got the camera and didn’t really know how it “worked” if you see what I mean so a lot of my pics didn’t come out as expected. However, even though this one is clearly not in focus, it’s one of my favourites. I feel like maybe if I put on 3D glasses, the image might pop out.
