Just a note

Cider moon

Yum. I finally got a skein of Cider Moon via the Destash group in Ravelry. It was sort of a whim because some months ago I’d seen some on Two Black Sheep and wanted it, but never got around to ordering any. And now since early-September, Cider Moon has been shut — no more info on the blog, store says temporarily shut, and no one seems to know what’s going on. They have GORGEOUS colours. And after seeing this, I want more. I’ve just got to cross my fingers and hope they come back online.

Now just briefly I need to whinge about a couple of internet things that make me want to scream.

  1. On popular blogs when people comment with “FIRST!” or “First?” or some variant. Who the fuck cares if you’re first or eighty-first? Seriously, it gets on muh tits. I know it comes from Boing!Boing! and MetaFilter and such, but it’s so stupid on knitting blogs. So stupid.
  2. Online shops that have images of the product (as they should) and it says “Click for larger image” and it’s the same goddamn thumbnail size image. Either get a larger image or don’t over the option to get a larger image.
  3. Related to the above, but the opposite problem. People who have 1mb images and squish them to thumbnail size because it does two things a) the thumbnail is actually blurry because such a large image has been compressed and b) makes the page load really slow ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU PUT TWENTY OF THOSE THUMBNAILS ON A SINGLE PAGE. I let someone know that even with my pretty fast connection, I was having a lot of trouble viewing their shop because of this and they said they might address the issue in the future, but right now they just wanted to get the site up and shoppers in. Well, duh, if shoppers can’t see the product, they are going to leave and not shop.

Okay, whinge over.

Did I mention that I am going home for Thanksgiving? I am. I have a million things I am taking for my mom and sister. I normally pack last minute, but I am going to have to dig out my larger suitcase and see if I can get everything in as I don’t want to travel there with two bags.

Umm, yeah, I don’t get that “First” thing either. It took me ages to figure that out. I’ll ask the sister about Cider Moon since she is able to find out more readily since they are closer to her. I still have to send out your book to the mom’s place, but it is going out this week with a little sumpin’- sumin’!

Ack! My inner web developer cringes for you! Whinge away, sistah!

That cider moon yarn is lovely! I have been oogling over that stuff for months and some of their patterns. Am hoping that they haven’t gone for good because I haven’t fondled any in real life ;)
YES I am so with you on #2. That really annoys me too.
