Random stuff mostly not knitting

Unbelievably I have not spent hours-upon-hours on Ravelry this weekend. Instead I went and ran lots of errands and got my hair cut. The girl cut some layers into it again, but they’re a bit shorter than I like so I gotta get used to it. My hair, once again, sticks out in about 100 different directions.

I attempted to go the to the local Stitch n’ Bitch again. I was there on time and saw the girls and smiled and walked by ’cause I am a sissy. Seriously, I don’t know why I can’t bring myself to say “hi”, introduce myself, and join in. I think it’s ’cause of where they meet — it’s always very crowded which means that they have to sit very closely and sort of closed off which makes it seem like others aren’t really welcome. That’s probably me being unreasonably judgemental. My co-worker/friend that I taught to knit obviously doesn’t have any real interest in doing it ’cause she’s been working on a cushion cover for six months and really isn’t very far. I tried to give her some kitchen cotton so she could knit a dishcloth and have felt like she’d accomplished something, but she wasn’t interested. I just gotta hook up w/ my fellow ex-pat again and get my knit on.

This picture is here merely to distract you from how boring this post is.

During my errands I bought a bunch of stuff I didn’t need including a cool tin pencil case that now holds my knitting notions. My DPNs fit perfectly (I use 5″ ones most of the time) so that’s very handy so there’s less risk of them getting broken. I’ll have to take pictures of it tomorrow, maybe.

Oh, I dunno if those in the US heard about all the crazy rain we got here on Friday since there’s just as many problems with rain and flooding in the US. Anyway, it was crazy and rivers broke levies, people got stranded, or it took hours and hours to go short distances. I managed to cycle to/from work that day ’cause I am hardcore \m/. I wasn’t even too wet ’cause I wore my waterproofs. The rain made me cycle faster so it was good although the temperature when I left work really felt like it was more like November. Hello, July, be warm.

Dakota in a tree The cats both got baths today and a bit of a brush in the hopes of removing a good bit of their shedding fur. They already look better for it, but are in need of a lot more brushing. I may take them out for a bit more of a brush while I wait for the bath tub to fill up. I’m going to attack my feet w/ a pumice stone and try to do a bit of a pedicure for tomorrow evening’s event — some diplomatic garden party. Weather, you better hold up.

Oh yeah, I also went and saw The Transformers last night w/ The Boy. I took him and he was really excited about it. It’s a good thing that technically he was 8-10 years TOO OLD for the Transformers when they came out. It’s a boy thing, definitely. It was an okay movie - it may win awards for the CGI stuff, but man were parts of it hilarious as in the that’s-a-really-pathetic-storyline/explanation hilarious.

Truly knitting related - I have picked Ms Marigold back up and have just re-joined the three pieces and need to do some back and forth knitting before joining it in the round. Other than that I have nothing else going. I think I might do some more dishcloths or something little just to make me feel like I’m accomplishing something.

The rain you have had . . . WOW! ABC did a quick recap this morning and I was gobsmacked by the sight. Where the hell did all that water come from (don’t answer, stupid question). They focused on Oxford and it looked nothing like I remembered it since it was mostly underwater. Hopefully the waters have abated and the ground is beginning to peak out by now. For the record, it has rained steadily here today and it feels like November as well. Stay dry!

funny that you bought a pencil tin to use as a dpn case–I was thinking the same thing this weekend when I saw some pencil cases! I hadn’t heard about the crazy rain you’re having over there! It actually rained here @ some point last night..talk about strange! You weren’t impressed with Transformers?? See, that goes to show I really was a tomboy growing up!
