Knitting content? On a knitting blog?
Don’t be silly. There is none here today.
Despite lots of hours on trains and a bus, I actually didn’t get as much done as I expected because of feeling tired (why do trains totally make me want to sleep?) and having interesting conversation on part of the journey. And a newspaper on another part (I so rarely buy a newspaper). I am into the heel of my Saucy sock and I think it might get done this weekend. I will then have my first pair of handknit socks for ME!
Mostly I wanted to make this post to say that my boyfriend is awesome. Despite not being able to keep a secret to save his life (the good kind), he’s awesome. Last night I rang him from Manchester to say I’d arrived at my hotel and had dinner and was rather tired. He was in the middle of cooking jambalaya (minus the fishy bits ’cause ewwwww) which he would then be transporting to my flat to leave along with a pint of milk for my morning coffee and some pain au chocolat (affectionately known by me as Chocolate Pain) so that I could come home and simply reheat the nearly cooked meal and not have to worry about making dinner or having yet another dinner of toast and wine. Or Cheerios and wine. He also fed the kitties, put away the dishes and washed up the couple of items I didn’t have time to wash up before I had to leave Wednesday morning. Note he doesn’t live very far as the crow flies, but it does take about 30 minutes to get between our places on little windy country roads. So kind.
Other than that, I actually had interesting meetings, but of course I now have about 500 things I have to do. I like how sometimes getting out of the office and into new settings can invigorate you (especially if you meet new and interesting people) — it often re-energises me about my work and I want to get at it RIGHT NOW. However, it is Friday evening, I’m tired from the travelling, my cats are demanding snuggles, I’ve had some nice wine, and in a moment I will pop in a DVD and pull out the knitting and settle in for the rest of (a very short) evening. Tomorrow I need to return some books to the library and I may very well go check out the special exhibit on Alice in Wonderland.
