Weird knits

Yesterday I was browsing various online knitting publications. I was looking at the Interweave Press site and seeing what free patterns they have available and how I can get a copy of the forthcoming issue. Whilst browsing I saw that they have publisehd a book entitled Funky Knits aimed at the younger knitting crowd. I had a ‘WTF?!’ moment when I looked at the table of contents.

Right there near the top in the left margin… an example of a project in the book. Fruit protectors. Yes, fruit protectors. Why? WHY? Why would you decide to knit a fruit protector? How pointless. I cannot cope with the knitted food items unless they are knit in ridiculously large sizes which them makes them like softies shaped like cake instead of a bear. Life-sized, knitted food items make no sense to me. They are a good way of collecting dust, I guess. But I digress…

Fruit protectors. THERE IS NO NEED. Really. Stop. And stop with the knitted food because no one is desperately wanting to snuggle up to a California Roll.

PS - No skateboarder, even one that knits, would be caught wearing knitted knee-pads. I think the authors were desperate to fill some pages.
